Pinhole: A Dragon For My Love on Flickr.
A shot suggested by J, my love, on Valentine’s Day, a day of which she’s not fond. Pish posh on Hallmark.
Here comes the Velveeta, because that’s how I am about her…I love her more today than yesterday. Not because it’s V-Day but because she’s fiery and gorgeous and smart. The sun rises on her beauty and the moon makes it glow. I’m still deeply smitten.
The dragon, Eli, stands outside the Nashville Children’s Theatre, an amazing institution entertaining and enlightening local kids since the 30s. I remember seeing numerous shows there as a child. Our kids see shows there now. The dragon, created by artist Zophia Kneiss, is 30 feet long and rises more than 20 feet overhead. It’s both beautiful and frightening. She talks about her vision for Eli here.

My Pinhole Is Bigger Than Yours on Flickr.
Size comparison between my Zero Image 6x9 and the Impossible Project pinhole camera I made from an ammunition canister. The ammo can camera shoots two frames of Impossible film at f300 and at the same time…auto-diptychs, I’m thinking. We’ll see. I’ll have some results tonight hopefully.

Inside of this room I found a bin full of coal. In the coal was a child’s plastic toy (it looked like something from a Happy Meal). Something about it creeped me out in a post-apocalypse kinda way because it was so out of place. I thought a minute would be long enough since it wasn’t much darker in the bin that in the room…sadly it wasn’t enough time.
One of the things I love about Portra…long low light exposures typically turn out blue.

The abandoned building I’ve been posting this week belongs to the same folks who own Kimbro Oil in Nashville. They’ve been around for years and supply local gas stations. I remember seeing their trucks when I was a kid. I’m very thankful they allowed me to explore the building and have offered to allow me back. I hope to shoot more when it gets much warmer…with the way the weather works in Nashville that could be sometime in the next 10 minutes.

I think I prefer my phone image of this weird little standalone room/building. I call it “Coal Room” because the bin in the lower left of the bottom image was full of coal. And no„ it’s not “boxer shorts” over the window, just some oddly cut fabric.

I really want to enlarge this photo to be 6 feet wide (about 4 feet tall) and hang it in a gallery somewhere.
